Yap\u0131lan ara\u015ft\u0131rmalarda \u00fcretim kalitesi, h\u0131z\u0131 ve elektronik eleman kullanimi artt\u0131k\u00e7a, direk sebekeden enerji alarak beslemenin zor oldugu anlasilmistir. Her g\u00fcn ortalama 10 saniyeden daha uzun s\u00fcren elektrik kesintileri olusmaktadr. Bu kesintiler \u00f6zellikle bilgi islem merkezleri i\u00e7in \u00f6nemli tehlikeler olusmaktadir. Bu sekilde calisan UPS\u2019lerde invert\u00f6r her zaman devrede oldugu i\u00e7in herhangi bir kesinti an\u0131nda off-line sistemlerde g\u00f6r\u00fclen devreye girme gecikmesi meydana gelmez. S\u00fcrekli devrede olan UPS sistemlerinde, kritik y\u00fck her zaman UPS \u00fczerinden beslenir. UPS sistemi y\u00fck ak\u0131m\u0131n\u0131 s\u00fcrekli ta\u015f\u0131mak zorundadir. Ana besleme kesildigi zaman, UPS&#8217; in ak\u00fcleri y\u00fck i\u00e7in gerekli olan enerjiyi invert\u00f6r \u00fczerinden saglar. Bundan dolay\u0131 y\u00fck u\u00e7lar\u0131nda herhangi bir enerji kesintisi meydana gelmez. A\u015fa\u011f\u0131da ki \u015fekilde Offline UPS ba\u011flant\u0131s\u0131 \u015febekeden gelen gerilim herhangi bir \u015fekilde ak\u00fcler \u00fczerinden ge\u00e7medi\u011fi i\u00e7in reg\u00fclasyon s\u00f6z konusu de\u011fildir. Bu sistemde \u015febekenin kesilmesi an\u0131nda yakla\u015f\u0131k 2 ile 5 ms i\u00e7inde bir r\u00f6le devreye girer. Ancak enerji kesildiginde ya da UPS\u2019in reg\u00fcle edebilece\u011fi s\u0131n\u0131rlar\u0131n d\u0131\u015f\u0131na \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131\u011f\u0131nda devreye girer. Baz\u0131lar\u0131nda bu i\u015flem mikro i\u015flemci kontroll\u00fc olarak yapilir. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde t\u00fcm interaktif modellerde gerilimi oransal olarak kullanan otomatik voltaj reg\u00fclat\u00f6r\u00fc bulunmaktad\u0131r. Giri\u015f gerilimi normal de\u011ferinin belli bir y\u00fczde kadar alt\u0131na indi\u011finde ya da \u00fczerine \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131\u011f\u0131nda giri\u015f gerilimini belli bir katsay\u0131yla \u00e7arparak azalt\u0131r veya artt\u0131r\u0131r.
